Larkana (Staff Report/Agencies): The 11th death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto is being observed today (Thursday).
The main function of the anniversary will be held at her hometown Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in Larkana district of Sindh.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari among other party leaders will address the public gathering to pay tribute to the former PM.
A large number of PPP leaders and workers from across the country have reached Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto where they offered fateha and paid tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for their services for the cause of democracy and country.
Quran khawani and fateha khawani will also be held at all the district offices of Pakistan Peoples Party today.
On the occasion, strict security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order.
The provincial government of Sindh announced a public holiday on account of the death anniversary of former premier.
On Wednesday, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also chaired a meeting of the party's central executive committee (CEC).
The participants of the meeting paid glowing tributes to Benazir Bhutto. Her sister Sanam Bhutto also attended the meeting.
Benazir Bhutto took oath as the first female prime minister of Pakistan on December 2, 1988; she was also the first woman to lead a Muslim state and twice served as the prime minister of Pakistan.
The former PM was assassinated in a gun and bomb attack in Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007, as she was leaving a PPP rally at the Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi.
