Islamabad (Web Desk): Security forces have eliminated 11 terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, state-run Radio Pakistan reported on Thursday, quoting security officials.
The militants were identified as members of Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan, according to the report.
In Bannu, security personnel launched an IBO targeting Fitna al Khawarij militants.
Two terrorists were killed during the action, while weapons and ammunition were also seized.
A separate operation took place in the Ladha area of South Waziristan, where security forces killed five Khawarij militants, according to the broadcaster.
In Balochistan, four terrorists belonging to Fitna al Hindustan were killed in an operation conducted in the Sasool area of Khuzdar district.
The sources said that the security forces used a quadcopter to locate and strike the Fitna al Hindustan terrorists during the operation.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday expressed appreciation for the security forces following a successful counterterrorism operation in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
In separate messages, the president and the premier praised the personnel involved in the operation, which resulted in the deaths of 11 terrorists.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to wiping out terrorism from the country and creating a secure environment that can support long-term peace and stability.
President Zardari said that terrorists linked to “Fitna al-Hindustan” and “Fitna al-Khawarij” would have to be eliminated to protect the country’s national security and pave the way for durable peace.
He said the nation was proud of the achievements of its security forces and law enforcement agencies, particularly their professional skills and performance in the fight against terrorism.
“The entire nation stands firmly with the security forces in the fight against terrorism and acknowledges their sacrifices and continued efforts to protect the country,” PM Shehbaz said.
