Islamabad  (Web Desk): National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has taken over the responsibilities of the Acting President of Pakistan in accordance with constitutional provisions.

President of Pakistan is currently on an official visit to Austria from August 27 to August 31, due to which the duties of the head of state will be performed by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq during this period.

According to constitutional arrangements, the speaker of the National Assembly assumes the role of Acting President when the President is unavailable and the Chairman of the Senate is also unable to perform the duties.

The Chairman Senate is also currently abroad on an official visit, resulting in the transfer of acting presidential responsibilities to the National Assembly Speaker.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will carry out the functions of the President in line with the Constitution of Pakistan and will exercise the powers and responsibilities associated with the office until the President returns and resumes his duties.

The constitutional mechanism ensures the continuity of state affairs and prevents any disruption in the functioning of the country’s highest office during the temporary absence of both constitutional officials.
