PDMA issues alert as 9th monsoon spell hits Punjab

Lahore (Web Desk): The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning ahead of the ninth round of monsoon showers expected to hit the northern regions of the province. This weather system is predicted to persist from August 29 through September 2.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, areas including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Sialkot are likely to experience heavy rainfall. Additionally, strong rains are anticipated in parts of Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Rajanpur.

Irfan Ali Kathia, DG of PDMA, has directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to stay vigilant and instruct relevant departments to implement precautionary measures promptly. Residents have been cautioned about potential hazards such as landslides, flooding in low-lying neighborhoods, and other related dangers.

District authorities have been fully mobilized to handle any emergencies that may arise during this period of intense rainfall.
