Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Pakistan Navy Ships HUNAIN and YARMOOK seized over 2,800 kg of narcotics worth approximately 750 million dollars during a joint counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the ships, while on routine patrol, intercepted a suspicious boat and recovered narcotics from concealed compartments during a boarding operation.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have lauded the Pakistan Navy for successfully intercepting and thwarting a narcotics-smuggling attempt in the Arabian Sea.
In separate statements, the president and the premier underscored the Navy’s significant responsibility in securing Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and tackling illegal activities, particularly the smuggling of prohibited substances through sea routes.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf also commended the officers and crew for their professionalism and vigilance, reaffirming Pakistan Navy’s commitment to maritime security and combating illicit trafficking at sea.
