Islamabad (Web Desk): Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa has announced a major digital transformation initiative aimed at modernising passport services through technology-driven reforms.

Speaking to a media outlet on Friday, the DG said a new passport mobile application will allow citizens to apply for and renew passports online, track their applications in real time, and access key services directly from their smartphones.

He added that the department is also planning to introduce a home delivery service for passports, enabling applicants to receive their documents at their doorstep and reducing the need for repeated visits to passport offices.

Randhawa further stated that a QR code-based digital payment system will soon be launched to ensure secure and transparent transactions, while also eliminating the role of middlemen and discouraging illegal practices.

He said the reforms are being implemented under the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, with the objective of improving public convenience and upgrading service delivery across the country.

The DG emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to efficient and citizen-friendly governance through the use of modern technology.

He added that the digital reforms aim to create a transparent and efficient passport system where corruption and exploitation have no place, ensuring fair and secure services for all applicants.
