Lahore (Staff Report): An Accountability Court on Tuesday granted 14 days physical remand of former officials Wasim Ajmal and Qamar-ul-Islam of the Saaf Pani Company in the scam.
Engineer Qamarul Islam, who has served as the chairman of the Saaf Pani Company, while Wasim Ajmal was a former CEO of the company.
On Monday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore arrested on Monday Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s ticket holder from NA-59 Rawalpindi-III in connection with Punjab Saaf Pani Company corruption case.
According to the NAB, Islam misused his position and awarded contracts at a higher rate.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned Qamarul Islam arrest, saying “the arrest of PML-N ticket holder during election campaign is unfortunate”.
Nisar also condemned Qamarul Islam’s arrest. The former interior minister said that this could make the July 25 general election controversial.
