47 terrorists killed as security forces foil infiltration attempt at Pak-Afghan border

Quetta (Web Desk): In a recent border clash, the bodies of 47 militants associated with the group Fitna-al-Khawarij lay unclaimed for days in the Zhob district of Balochistan, following their failed attempt to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghan territory.

The incident unfolded on August 7 and 9, when Pakistani security forces intercepted and neutralized a significant number of insurgents in the rugged Sambaza region, close to the Pak-Afghan frontier.
According to security sources, a majority of those killed were Afghan nationals.

In the aftermath of the operation, several corpses remained on the Afghan side of the boundary, while others lay exposed on Pakistani soil. Despite the passage of over two weeks, no Afghan representatives or families came forward to retrieve the deceased.
Left exposed to the elements, the bodies began to decay, with wild animals reportedly scavenging some of the remains.

It wasn’t until August 25, after a traditional jirga was convened between Pakistani and Afghan officials, that the process of returning the bodies commenced.

Due to the difficult terrain and lack of infrastructure, the corpses were transported back into Afghanistan using donkeys.

Security officials described the operation as a major blow to the militant outfit, noting that the swift and effective action by intelligence and armed forces thwarted a potentially serious threat before it could materialize.
