Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar presided over a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Business on Friday, during which the committee examined a range of legal and regulatory proposals forwarded by different ministries and government divisions.
The committee gave its approval to the draft OGRA Fees and Charges Rules, which are intended to bring the fee structure for regulatory and licensing services offered by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) in line with existing requirements.
It also granted conditional approval to amendments proposed to the Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act, 1997. The approval was linked to the incorporation of the recommendations and suggestions put forward by the committee into the proposed draft.
An amendment to the Pakistan Coast Guards Act, 1973, also received approval. The amendment seeks to establish a clear legal basis for rules concerning the management and functioning of the Regimental Fund.
The committee additionally approved a proposed change to the Drugs (Research) Rules, 1978, allowing the Central Research Fund to support the establishment, improvement and modernisation of research and laboratory facilities.
Meanwhile, discussion on proposed changes to the FIA Act, 1974, and the Immigration Rules, 1979, was postponed. The item concerning the Draft PEMRA Rules, 2025, was removed from the committee’s agenda.
The meeting was attended by senior representatives of the concerned ministries, divisions and government departments.
