Beijing (Web Desk): Pakistan and China on Monday formalised 15 agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) covering a broad range of sectors, including trade, agriculture, climate cooperation, education, media, science and technology, counterterrorism, and economic collaboration, in a move aimed at reinforcing their strategic partnership.
The agreements were finalised during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s four-day official trip to China, where he met Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
During the talks, both sides held detailed discussions on bilateral relations and exchanged views on the regional landscape.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Premier Li Qiang jointly attended the signing ceremony at the Great Hall of the People, where representatives from the two countries exchanged official documents related to the agreements.
Among the key understandings reached were memorandums focused on cooperation in economic development as well as joint efforts relating to environmental protection and climate change.
The two countries also exchanged a handover letter concerning the donation of veterinary vaccines and signed protocols facilitating the export of Pakistani dried fruits, nuts, and maize to the Chinese market.
Several other agreements were concluded in the fields of standards and conformity assessment, media and news collaboration, and institutional cooperation between the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and Pakistan’s National School of Public Policy.
The event further witnessed the signing of memorandums linked to documentary co-production and initiatives designed to encourage scientific and technological exchanges between the people of both countries.
To strengthen trade and institutional capacity, both sides also signed an MoU supporting free trade and multilateral cooperation, a letter regarding assistance for counterterrorism equipment, and an agreement related to human resource development.
Pakistan and China also agreed to expand collaboration in the agriculture sector and signed a separate memorandum to promote cooperation between China Foreign Affairs University and Foreign Service Academy of Pakistan.
