Lahore (Web Desk): Heavy water flow has pushed the River Chenab to a moderate flood level at Khanki, Qadirabad and Chiniot Bridge, while Palkhu Nullah in Wazirabad is also witnessing moderate flooding, according to the latest flood situation report.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said low-level flooding continues at Kalabagh, Chashma and Taunsa along the River Indus, while Marala and Trimmu on the River Chenab, Balloki and Sidhnai on the River Ravi, and Nowshera on the River Kabul remain under low flood conditions.
The authority further stated that Nullah Aik and Palkhu Nullah Cantt Bridge are experiencing low-level flooding, whereas the hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur are currently flowing within normal limits.
The NDMA warned that water levels in the River Chenab are expected to increase further over the next 24 hours at Marala, Khanki, Qadirabad and Chiniot Bridge. It added that water at Trimmu Barrage could also reach the moderate flood category during the same period.
Over the next 24 to 48 hours, the authority cautioned that intense rainfall could trigger flash floods in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, rain-fed streams across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Balochistan.
It also warned of possible urban flooding in Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Jhang, Multan, Hafizabad and Lahore during the forecast period.
The NDMA has instructed all concerned departments to maintain constant surveillance of vulnerable areas, ensure emergency response teams remain fully prepared and make immediate arrangements to clear and restore any roads affected or blocked by flooding.
