Bhakkar (Web Desk): At least two policemen were martyred and several others were injured in a suicide attack at the central Dajal check post, which connects Bhakkar with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab.
According to police authorities, that the explosion instantly killed two policemen, while an additional officer and four civilians, including a polio worker, sustained injuries.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bhakkar Shehzad Rafiq Awan also confirmed the incident and said security forces immediately cordoned off the area in Saddar jurisdiction and launched a search operation.
The martyred police officers were identified as Shahbaz and Faheem.
Those injured include Arshad, Ajab, Hasnain, and Zubair.
The wounded, along with the bodies of the deceased, were transported to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Bhakkar, where emergency services were immediately activated while of the injured was subsequently referred to Multan for specialized medical treatment.
Authorities have initiated a formal investigation to uncover the details of the attack and bring those responsible to justice.

In his remarks, President Zardari paid homage to the police officers who lost their lives while performing their duties and extended his sincere condolences to the families of the fallen, praying that they are granted the courage and patience to endure their devastating loss.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound grief over the deaths of the police personnel and emphasized that their ultimate sacrifice in combating terrorism would not be allowed to go unrewarded.
He reaffirmed the government’s resolute commitment to uprooting terrorism from the country and safeguarding its citizens.
