Pak-Afghan border at Torkham reopens after 6-day closure

Peshawar (Web Desk): Pak-Afghan border at Torkham was reopened for trade and traffic on Saturday.

According to border officials, the border was closed by the Afghan authorities six days ago without any intimation.

Thousands of cargo vehicles were stuck due to the closure of the border crossing.
The movement of people, including patients from Afghanistan and transport of goods resumed from both sides of the border, the Radio Pakistan reported..

The decision to reopen the border crossing by Afghan Taliban came a day after a high-level Pakistani delegation, led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, visited Kabul to discuss security and other matters.

The defence minister was was by Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General Nadeem Anjum, Foreign Secretary Asad Majid and Special envoy on Afghanistan Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq.
