Washington (Web Desk): The American magazine The Diplomat has declared 2025 to be a significant year for Pakistan, stating that the country has once again become the center of global attention after several years.
According to the magazine, this year has proven to be a year of strategic recovery and military confidence for Pakistan, as the military leadership delivered a clear and strong message against extremism at the state level.
The Diplomat reported that the Army Chief took a firm stance, clearly stating that "the declaration of jihad is solely the prerogative of the state," which was seen as a major milestone in the fight against extremism.
The military leadership strongly safeguarded the state's interests, and its clear vision strengthened Pakistan’s state authority. Furthermore, the military clashes with India in May 2025 highlighted Pakistan's military capabilities on the global stage.
The performance of Pakistan's military clearly demonstrated the military balance, and despite internal challenges, it enhanced Pakistan's strategic reputation and deterrence. According to The Diplomat, Pakistan’s successful performance against India not only highlighted the professional capabilities of the country's military leadership but also garnered the attention of global defense experts.
Following the success of the military, relations between Pakistan and the United States saw significant improvement. According to The Diplomat, Pakistan’s success against India put pressure on India’s relations with Washington, and Pakistan made strategic advances in the Middle East through its defense agreements. The defense cooperation with Saudi Arabia strengthened Pakistan's regional role, and the completion of a defense agreement between the two countries was seen as a major success.
The report further stated that there was an increase in global demand for Pakistan's defense equipment, with China expressing satisfaction over the performance of the defense weapons used during the war. A favorable global environment was also created for the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and Pakistan became a key player in global efforts related to Gaza.
On the Afghanistan issue, Pakistan adopted a clear stance, and there was a decisive increase in Pakistan's policy against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Pakistan consistently took measures to pressure the Taliban government, which proved to be an effective strategy on the global stage.
Pakistan also included Qatar, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia in a mediating role, raising the issue of cross-border threats globally, while achieving significant domestic successes in the fight against terrorism. Cooperation with various countries in counter-terrorism efforts increased, and progress was made in reform measures, such as the privatization of PIA, which may have potentially marked a turning point for Pakistan’s economy.
