Lahore (Web Desk): Karachi Kings secured a dominant 9-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators in the 37th match of PSL 11, keeping their hopes of reaching the playoffs alive.
The match was played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where Quetta Gladiators posted a total of 195 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Rilee Rossouw played a brilliant innings, scoring 90 runs off 54 balls, including 8 fours and 6 sixes. Captain Saud Shakeel contributed a solid 57 runs, while Dinesh Chandimal remained unbeaten on 30.
However, the opening pair Saim Ayub and Khawaja Nafay failed to make a significant impact.
For Karachi Kings, Hasan Ali and Abbas Afridi took two wickets each, while Rizwanullah also claimed two dismissals.
Chasing the target, Karachi Kings got off to a strong start but lost Jason Roy for 20 runs at 58. After that, David Warner and Rassie van der Dussen formed a match-winning unbeaten partnership of 141 runs.
Warner smashed 89 runs off just 48 balls, while van der Dussen scored an unbeaten 87 off 48 deliveries.
For Quetta, Jahandad Khan picked up the only wicket as the rest of the bowling attack struggled to contain the Karachi batters.
With this win, Karachi Kings moved to fourth place on the points table, keeping their playoff chances alive. Quetta Gladiators were eliminated from the tournament. Karachi will now depend on the outcomes of other matches to secure a place in the playoffs.
