New York (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
During the meeting, the two foreign ministers congratulated each other on the completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Germany.
Both sides underscored the need for continued high-level exchanges to further develop the longstanding and friendly relationship between the two countries.
The talks also focused on expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, economic ties and direct business-to-business partnerships.
Pakistan and Germany further agreed to strengthen collaboration in defence, education, technical skills and people-to-people exchanges.
The two ministers also reviewed regional and international developments. The German foreign minister acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive contribution to regional peace and stability through dialogue and diplomatic efforts.
The situation in Palestine also came under discussion during the meeting.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar stressed the importance of continued international efforts to secure a ceasefire, ensure humanitarian assistance and work towards a fair and durable settlement based on the two-state solution.
The two sides agreed to maintain regular communication and remain engaged on matters of mutual interest.
