Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has strongly reacted to the recent press conference held by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), accusing them of engaging in politics rather than addressing the problems faced by Punjab.
She criticized PPP for giving contradictory statements on the flood situation and the wheat crisis, accusing the party of indulging in “flood politics.”
Azma Bukhari pointed out the inconsistency in PPP’s stance, stating that on one hand, the party talks about the loss of wheat, while on the other hand, it supports exporting wheat, which she described as contradictory. She questioned whether PPP is repeatedly drowning Sindh by politicizing the frequent floods there.
The minister further alleged that PPP is not taking any practical steps to help the flood victims but is instead using the issue for political gains. She condemned PPP’s criticism of the Punjab government by using the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as an excuse and raised questions about the wheat procurement policies in Sindh.
Uzma Bukhari referred to Bilawal Bhutto’s praise of Maryam Nawaz’s performance and remarked that the people of Sindh also desire to have a chief minister like Maryam Nawaz. She also condemned attempts to politicize the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), emphasizing that the program has its own laws and procedures and should not be used repeatedly for political purposes during flood crises.
The Information Minister added that if PPP were truly wise, Punjab would not be facing its current challenges, and instead of making political accusations, the party should focus on resolving issues.
She emphasized that the government makes decisions according to the situation and that misuse of political opportunities is unacceptable.
This response came as a rebuttal to the PPP’s recent press conference, where criticism was leveled regarding the wheat crisis and flood management.
