Islamabad (Web Desk): The Ministry of Interior has issued an official notification announcing a ban on the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) following the formal approval of the federal cabinet.

According to the notification, the government has declared TLP a proscribed organization under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, on the grounds of its involvement in activities deemed as terrorism.

The group has been placed in the First Schedule of the Act, meaning it now stands banned nationwide for engaging in unlawful actions.

The notification further stated that the activities of TLP had become a threat to national security and public peace.

The federal government’s decision follows a similar move by the Punjab cabinet, which had earlier approved a summary recommending the ban and forwarded it to the federal authorities for implementation.

As per the Interior Ministry, the notification of the ban has been dispatched to the TLP leadership as well as other concerned institutions.

Official sources said the purpose of this step is to strengthen internal security and prevent terrorism by ensuring that no organization is allowed to endanger peace and stability in the country.

The government’s move comes amid rising concerns over TLP’s recent wave of protest demonstrations in multiple cities, which had been causing serious disruption to law and order.
