New Delhi (Web Desk): Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday announced victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the general election, the Radio Pakistan reported.
According to the ECI data, the BJP crossed the half-way mark of 272, required to form the government.
ECI data showed that the party’s tally is most likely to rise further, as BJP candidates are leading in 31 more parliamentary constituencies and the counting of votes is still underway.
Earlier, main opposition party the Indian National Congress (INC) president Rahul Gandhi conceded defeat and congratulated Prime Minister Modi over his victory.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan also congratulated his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on victory of the BJP and its allies in the country's elections.
