New York  (Web Desk): Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, delivered a comprehensive briefing at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to resolving global disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and negotiation.

During the briefing, Asim Iftikhar emphasized that Pakistan has always championed peaceful and diplomatic solutions to international conflicts.

He stressed that the country supports any measures or initiatives that aim to de-escalate tensions, promote reconciliation, and foster sustainable peace, whether in Ukraine or any other region facing unrest.

The Pakistani envoy called on all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint, avoid provocative actions, and prioritize negotiations over military confrontation.

He highlighted that irresponsible actions and escalation can threaten not only regional stability but also international peace and security.

Asim Iftikhar reminded the international community of the critical importance of respecting international law and upholding the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

According to him, adherence to these norms is essential for building lasting peace and ensuring that disputes are resolved through lawful and diplomatic channels rather than violence.

He further stated:"Pakistan’s principled position is clear: global stability and security are achievable only through reducing tensions and fostering reconciliation, not through war. Diplomacy, dialogue, and mutual understanding must guide international efforts."

Analysts note that Pakistan’s stance reflects its consistent foreign policy approach, which emphasizes neutrality, mediation, and support for multilateral mechanisms in resolving conflicts.

By highlighting the importance of diplomacy and international cooperation, Pakistan aims to reinforce its image as a responsible actor and peace facilitator on the global stage.

This statement at the Security Council comes at a critical time, as the world closely monitors developments in Ukraine, with major powers weighing responses to ongoing hostilities.

Pakistan’s call for restraint and dialogue underscores its broader commitment to promoting stability, reducing regional tensions, and supporting the UN’s role as a central platform for conflict resolution.
