Beijing (Web Desk): China on Wednesday welcomed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding reached between the United States and Iran, describing it as a positive development and emphasizing that all parties should work together to preserve and implement the agreement.
Speaking at a regular press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the understanding had sent an encouraging signal to the international community and should be jointly upheld to support peace and stability in the region.

He reiterated China's longstanding position that regional disputes and differences should be resolved through dialogue and negotiations rather than confrontation.
Guo stressed that Beijing opposes the threat or use of force and consistently advocates diplomatic engagement as the preferred path for addressing conflicts.
The spokesperson said China remains committed to a fair and balanced approach, supporting initiatives that contribute to peace and stability.
He added that Beijing backs Iran's efforts to safeguard its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and national dignity, while also encouraging stronger relations between Tehran and its Gulf neighbours as well as other countries in the region.
The remarks came after Iran and the United States announced on June 14 that they had reached a 14-point agreement through Pakistan-mediated negotiations aimed at ending hostilities and resolving outstanding issues through diplomatic channels.
Known as the Islamabad Understanding, the accord formally entered into force on June 18 following its electronic signing by Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump.
The agreement contains a number of key provisions, including measures to end the conflict, facilitate stability in Lebanon, reopen the Strait of Hormuz for normal maritime traffic, and lift the US naval blockade imposed on Iran.
Observers view China's endorsement as further international support for the diplomatic initiative, which is being seen as an important step toward reducing tensions and promoting long-term peace and stability in the Middle East.
