Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Newly appointed Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan has refused to represent the government in the presidential reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa, citing a "conflict of interest".
On Friday, the government on Friday – through Additional Attorney General Chaudhry Amir Rehman – had sought three weeks adjournment in a case pertaining to presidential reference against Justice Isa.
Last week, Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Anwar Mansoor Khan resigned from his office.
Khan’s resignation came after the Pakistan Bar Council had demanded his resignation over some comments he made regarding a full-court bench hearing Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s case against the presidential reference.
The federal government has also distanced itself from Khan's remarks.
