Islamabad (Agencies): The Supreme Court on Monday heard a plea filed by federal government seeking a three-week adjournment in the proceedings of Justice Qazi Faez Isa case.

The government on Friday – through Additional Attorney General Chaudhry Amir Rehman – had sought three weeks adjournment in a case pertaining to presidential reference against Justice Isa.

Last week, Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Anwar Mansoor Khan resigned from his office.

Khan’s resignation came after the Pakistan Bar Council had demanded his resignation over some comments he made regarding a full-court bench hearing Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s case against the presidential reference.

The federal government has also distanced itself from Khan's remarks.

According to sources, newly appointed AGP Khalid Javed Khan will not plead the presidential reference as he has already in the past expressed his opinion in favour of Justice Isa.
