California (Web Desk): WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature for channel administrators that would allow them to prepare posts in advance and schedule them for automatic publication at a specific date and time.
According to reports, the feature is still in the early stages of development and is not currently available even to beta testers.
The upcoming functionality was spotted in WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.26.33.5, offering an early look at how scheduled channel updates could work.
Under the proposed feature, channel administrators would be able to select a specific date and time for an update to be published.
Once the scheduled time arrives, the post would automatically appear on the channel without requiring the administrator to be online or keep WhatsApp open.
To schedule an update, an administrator would reportedly need to press and hold the send button after preparing the post.
A scheduling option would then appear, allowing the admin to choose the desired date and time instead of publishing the update immediately.
Scheduled posts are also expected to appear within the channel’s information section. This could give administrators a dedicated place to view their upcoming posts and manage content that has already been scheduled for publication.
The feature could prove particularly useful for channel admins who regularly share news, announcements, promotional material or other updates with their followers. Instead of having to publish every post manually at the required time, admins could prepare their content beforehand and ensure it reaches their audience according to a planned schedule.
The scheduling option could also make it easier for administrators to maintain a consistent posting routine, particularly when they need to publish updates at specific times or manage content throughout the day.
However, the feature remains under development and has not yet been released to beta users. WhatsApp has also not announced an official launch date or confirmed when scheduled channel posts will become available to the wider public.
For now, the functionality appears to be part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to introduce more content-management tools for channel administrators, but users will have to wait for further updates before the feature becomes widely accessible.
