Islamabad (Web Desk): The government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, dealing another blow to consumers as the new rates will take effect from August 25.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued a notification announcing the revised prices of petroleum products.
According to the notification, the price of petrol has been increased by 39 paisas per litre, taking its new price to Rs341.98 per litre.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs2.40 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs370.69 per litre.
The revised prices will come into effect from August 25 and will remain applicable for the next fortnight.
The increase is expected to add to transportation and travel expenses for consumers. Higher fuel costs could also put additional pressure on transport fares and the prices of goods and essential commodities.
With the latest revision, petrol has moved closer to the Rs342-per-litre mark, while diesel has reached nearly Rs371 per litre.
