Nation celebrates Pakistan Day 

Islamabad (Web Desk): The nation is Pakistan Day today (Monday) with a renewed resolve to steer the country toward becoming a genuine Islamic and welfare state, reflecting the aspirations of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

This occasion is held each year to remember the landmark Lahore Resolution, adopted on March 23, 1940, which outlined the demand for an independent homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent.

The day dawned  with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad, while provincial capitals marked the morning with 21-gun salutes.

Following Fajr prayers, special supplications were offered in mosques across the country, seeking national development and prosperity.

To highlight the importance of the day and honor the contributions of leaders and activists of the Pakistan Movement, state and private radio and TV channels will broadcast special programmes.
