Malaysian PM Mahathir departs for his country after 3 days visit to Pakistan

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Saturday left for his country after concluding his three-day visit to Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan saw the Malaysian premier off at the Nur Khan Airbase.

Before departure, the Malaysian Prime Minister was briefed about the specifications of JF-17 Thunder. Dr Mahathir Mohamad also inspected the aircraft, which has indigenously been manufactured by Pakistan with the collaboration of China.

Earlier the day, the Malaysian premier attended Pakistan Day parade at Parade Ground near Islamabad’s Shakarparian hills as the guest of honour.

During his stay, the Malaysian premier held meetings with Pakistan’s top civil and military leadership and signed multiple MoUs.

On Friday, Mahathir Mohamad was conferred the highest civil award Nishan-e-Pakistan at an impressive investiture ceremony held at the President House in Islamabad.

Addressing a banquet in honour of the Malaysian premier, President Arif Alvi said Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy brotherly relations which can be further cemented.

Finance Minister Asad Umar told media that Malaysia had shown keen interest in procuring JF-17 Thunder fighter planes and anti-tank missiles from Pakistan.
