China pushes pharmaceutical firms to accelerate exports of COVID-19 vaccine to Pakistan

Islamabad (Web Desk): China has asked its pharmaceutical companies to accelerate exports of Coronavirus vaccine to Pakistan, Radio Pakistan reported.

During a briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said that directions were issued to the companies to accelerate exports of COVID-19 vaccine to Pakistan. 

Earlier, Chinese State Councilor Wang Yi assured Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to provide half a million doses of coronavirus vaccine to Pakistan.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 530,818 on Saturday after 1,927 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 239,935 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 152,925 in Punjab, 64,945 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,715 in Balochistan, 40,629 in Islamabad, 4,899 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 8,770 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 11,247 with 43 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 484,508 after another 1,737 virus recoveries were reported.
