Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the launch of free ambulance service to shift dead bodies from hospitals to homes across the province.
Chairing a meeting, she sought a plan to launch the free service at hospitals at Tehsil level.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that at least one ambulance van will be deployed in each Tehsil, and families can access the service by calling 1122 or through the hospital’s designated counter.
During the session, Dr Rizwan Naseer, Secretary of Emergency Services, briefed officials on the details of the service.
Under the new system, at least one vehicle will be available in every tehsil, enabling families to transport their deceased loved ones from hospitals to their residences free of charge.
Families can access the service by calling 1122 or through designated counters at participating hospitals.
The Punjab CM also approved the regulation of private ambulance services, reviewing proposals to set standardized rates.
Additionally, she directed the development of a plan to establish government-run ambulance services in major public hospitals and across all tehsils of the province.
The service will be monitored through a smart management system, and it will also provide the option to transfer the deceased between cities at no cost, ensuring accessibility and support for grieving families across Punjab.
