Kabul (Web Desk): Under Taliban regime in Afghanistan, a deepening economic crisis coupled with acute food shortages has pushed thousands of families into extreme hardship, leaving innocent children trapped in a desperate struggle for survival.
According to the latest report issued by the World Food Programme (WFP), nearly four million children across the country are suffering from malnutrition.
A significant number of them are unable to receive essential food assistance and medical support due to severe funding shortfalls, raising fears that their conditions could deteriorate further in the coming months.
The report further reveals that approximately 17.4 million people — a substantial portion of the population — are reliant on humanitarian aid to meet their most basic needs.
However, shrinking financial resources have constrained relief operations, making it increasingly difficult for aid agencies to respond effectively to the scale of the crisis.
Conditions are particularly alarming in remote and hard-to-reach regions, where sick and malnourished children face immense barriers in accessing healthcare facilities.
Long travel distances, poverty, and a lack of transportation prevent many families from seeking timely medical treatment.
Aid organizations have warned that unless the international community steps forward with urgent and substantial financial assistance, Afghanistan could face a worsening humanitarian catastrophe.
