Gaza City (Web Desk): The Gaza Strip is grappling with a severe shortage of essential medicines and medical supplies, a lingering impact of the recent conflict, putting the lives of thousands of patients in jeopardy.
According to Gaza’s Health Department, hospitals are struggling to provide adequate care, and patients’ conditions are deteriorating due to the scarcity of critical drugs.
The health department reported that laboratory testing supplies and blood bank resources have dwindled by 59 percent, severely hampering timely diagnoses and emergency treatments. Doctors warn that several life-saving medications are entirely depleted, drastically reducing the chances of recovery for critically ill patients.
Although a ceasefire is now in place, the delivery of international aid and medical supplies has yet to reach the necessary scale.
The health department has urgently called on global organizations to provide immediate support, including medicines, laboratory equipment, and blood bank resources.
Reports from Arab media indicate that during the conflict, Israeli forces destroyed 34 hospitals and 125 healthcare centers across Gaza, leaving the local health system severely weakened and creating enormous challenges in patient care.
In a related development, six Palestinian prisoners recently released from Israeli detention were transferred to a hospital in Deir al-Balah, while more than 10,000 Palestinians remain imprisoned in Israel.
The combination of depleted medical facilities and delays in aid delivery has plunged Gaza’s population into a severe humanitarian crisis.
