Peshawar (Web Desk): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Cabinet on Monday approved the relief emergency for Kurram District after declaring it a disaster-stricken area.

The provincial cabinet, led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, approved a series of emergency relief measures, including the provision of essential supplies such as food and medicine, and the deployment of air transport services to ensure that aid reaches the region without delay.

These relief efforts are expected to continue until the situation stabilizes and peace is restored in the district.

The focus will be on providing immediate humanitarian assistance, with an emphasis on distributing medical supplies and food to those in need.

Speaking during the meeting, CM Gandapur expressed his concern over the current instability in Kurram, stressing that while the majority of residents long for peace, a small group of troublemakers is hindering progress.

He pointed to the widespread presence of illegal weapons and fortified bunkers in the region, calling for their immediate dismantling.

Gandapur reiterated that ensuring lasting peace in Kurram depends on the successful removal of these illegal weapons and the enforcement of strict disarmament policies.

He made it clear that the government has no policy to allow the carrying of arms and ammunition.

Briefing the media after the meeting, KP’s Information Adviser Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif outlined the provincial government’s plan to quickly mobilize resources to Kurram, urging relevant authorities to act swiftly to bring relief to the affected populations.
