Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan’s two major political parties, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), have officially announced their decision to contest the upcoming by-elections together.
This development is being seen as a significant step towards political maturity and mutual understanding in the country’s political landscape.
According to sources, the leadership of both parties recently finalized an agreement on seat adjustment and electoral cooperation, whereby each party will field candidates in constituencies where they performed relatively better in previous elections, while the other will extend support.
Speaking to newsmen following the meeting of the two parties, senior PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf stated that this decision is more than just an electoral strategy; it is a move aimed at enhancing political stability, democratic continuity, and improving the quality of public representation in the country.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister Hanif Abbasi described the decision as a positive development in the national interest, saying, "We have resolved to rise above differences and adopt a strategy that steers the country away from discord and towards progress."
Political analysts believe that this alliance will not only emerge as a formidable force in the electoral arena but will also increase the electoral pressure on opposition parties, particularly in fiercely contested constituencies.
