Lahore (Staff Report): Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, revealed on Wednesday that her mother, Kulsoom Nawaz, has been diagnosed with lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes on the left side of her neck.
"Her treatment begins immediately," said Maryam on Twitter.
Maryam informed further that doctors are hopeful that the disease is curable since it has been diagnosed at an early stage.
Kulsoom Nawaz left for London unexpectedly on August 17 for a medical checkup.
She is also contesting NA-120 by-poll, schedule on Sept 17.
The seat fell vacant after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court in the Panamagate case on July 28.
