Army Chief calls Nawaz, wishes for Kulsoom’s early recovery

Lahore (Web Desk): Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed best wishes for Baghum Kulsoom Nawaz, through a telephonic call to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday, and prays for her better health.  

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor informed the happening in a tweet today.

Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan and other party leaders Shireen Mazari and Asad Umar too wished Kulsoom an early recovery in the fight against cancer.

Earlier, on Tuesday local media reported that Kulsoom Nawaz, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's wife, was reportedly been diagnosed with throat cancer.

According to the reports, the cancer had been detected in London where Begum Kulsoom was undergoing medical checkups.

A local news channel also reported that Begum Kulsoom had been diagnosed with throat cancer, citing doctors in the United Kingdom, adding that the cancer is treatable.

Kulsoom Nawaz left for London unexpectedly on August 17 for a medical checkup.

She is also contesting NA-120 by-poll, schedule on Sept 17.

The seat fell vacant after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court in the Panamagate case on July 28.
