Bannu (Staff Report): Unknown assailants on Tuesday gunned down Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Imran, who was escorting polio workers during a province-wide anti-polio drive.
According to police, Imran was deployed at a basic health unit in Bannu to provide security to polio team was gunned down by unknown assailants while he was on his way to work.
Police have registered a case and launched investigation into the matter.
Earlier the day, Peshawar police arrested a man who allegedly tried to sabotage anti-polio drive by faking the illness and hospitalisation of children.
In videos circulating on the social media, a man can be seen instructing young boys, who are in madrassa uniform, to lie on hospital beds and pretend to be unconscious, and the children can be seen following his orders.
