Tehran (Web Desk): More than 439,000 Afghan nationals have been deported from Iran so far this year, highlighting the growing scale of the country’s repatriation drive.
A fresh report released by the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, revealed that 86 percent of those sent back were undocumented Afghans who had been living in Iran without valid legal papers.
The UNHCR report noted that the large-scale return of undocumented Afghans has placed additional strain on Afghanistan’s housing, employment opportunities and essential public services.
