Eco-friendly travel: Punjab CM launches e-bus service in Sahiwal

Sahiwal (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday formally launched the eco-friendly electric bus service in Sahiwal.

Speaking at the ceremony, she announced that the service will be completely free for students, while special ramps have been installed in the buses to ensure dignified travel for persons with disabilities.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that modern and eco-friendly transport facilities are being introduced to improve the quality of life in smaller cities of Punjab.

She said that fleet of 30 electric buses has been allocated for Sahiwal, with a nominal fare of only Rs20. In addition, women, senior citizens, students, and people with disabilities will be able to travel free of cost.

Maryam further highlighted that the buses are equipped with charging ports and Wi-Fi to provide commuters with a more comfortable and modern travel experience.

Referring to the initiative, the chief minister said such projects are symbols of the development vision carried out during Nawaz Sharif’s era.

Earlier, Maryam Nawaz visited the flood-affected areas of Bahawalnagar to assess the ongoing relief work.

She inspected the flood relief camp set up at the Technical College Bahawalnagar, where she reviewed the arrangements and asked about the facilities being provided to the displaced people.

She interacted with those working on sewing machines and even participated in sewing herself.

The chief minister also went to a makeshift school established for children affected by the floods and interacted with them during her visit.

On the occasion, the Bahawalnagar district administration presented her with a detailed briefing on the rescue and relief operations as well as the overall situation in the flood-hit areas.
