Islamabad (Web Desk): A recent report suggests that a significant portion of content consumed on TikTok is now generated using artificial intelligence (AI), raising concerns about content quality and its impact on younger audiences.

According to a study by US-based company Capwing, approximately 60% of the videos watched by TikTok users are created using AI technology.

This figure is reportedly three times higher than the proportion of AI-generated content seen on YouTube.

The report claims that TikTok’s recommendation algorithm tends to amplify lower-quality or AI-generated content, giving it wider reach across users’ feeds.

It further highlights that the situation appears more concerning for younger users. In the platform’s “kids” category, AI-generated videos are said to dominate, while content under hashtags like “cartoon kids” is almost entirely AI-produced.

The study notes that out of every 100 videos in certain child-focused categories, only around three are created by humans, with the vast majority being AI-generated.

Experts warn that when children use TikTok for educational or human-centered entertainment, their feeds may still be heavily populated with AI-generated content.

They also note that the platform’s algorithm tends to recommend more AI-based videos once a user shows interest in such material.

Researchers have raised concerns that excessive exposure to AI-generated content could have potential effects on children’s cognitive development and understanding of real-world content.

It is worth noting that TikTok introduced new controls in November 2025, allowing users to adjust the amount of AI-generated content appearing in their feeds, either increasing or reducing its visibility based on preference.
