UNSC adopts Pakistan-sponsored resolution on peaceful settlement of disputes

New York (Web Desk): The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has unanimously approved a resolution put forward by Pakistan, aimed at bolstering mechanisms for the peaceful resolution of international disputes.

The adoption took place during a Council session chaired by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Tuesday.

This resolution urges greater involvement from regional and sub-regional organizations in resolving conflicts and emphasizes the importance of fully implementing existing Security Council decisions. It advocates for stronger collaboration between these organizations and the UN to support conflict prevention efforts.

The document highlights the significance of preventive diplomacy and encourages proactive strategies to stop disputes from escalating.

Among the recommended approaches are early diplomatic engagement, mediation efforts, confidence-building measures, and the promotion of dialogue at various levels—from local to global.

Pakistan, currently serving as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, reaffirmed its commitment to fostering global peace and stability through non-violent means.

By sponsoring this resolution, Pakistan seeks to reinforce its role in encouraging constructive international engagement and promoting peaceful solutions to conflicts around the world.
