PM Imran, who is accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, waved at those who came to welcome him outside the Executive Mansion.

During the meeting, President Trump noted that the US is working with Pakistan to leave Afghanistan, and does not want the US to be policeman in the region.

He also offered to intercede to improve strained relations between Pakistan and India, and further said that aid to Islamabad could be restored depending on the kind of understanding reached between the two leaders.

The president also offered to mediate Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran said he hoped that in the coming days, "we will be able to urge the Taliban to talk".

Earlier, US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Pakistan House in Washington DC on Monday.

Graham is a Senator from Republican Party and Head of Senate Judiciary Committee; he has been the most vocal and active supporter of refreshing US-Pakistan bilateral ties.

The meeting came hours ahead of the much anticipated interaction between US President, Donald Trump and Pakistani premier Imran Khan.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood and Ambassador of Pakistan to USA Asad Majeed Khan were also present during the meeting.
