Shimla (Web Desk): A disturbing video showing a doctor physically assaulting a patient at a government hospital in India has gone viral on social media, leading to a strong public outcry.

According to Indian media reports, the incident occurred at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, where a doctor allegedly attacked a patient. The video shows the doctor slapping and punching the patient, who was lying on a bed. The patient can be seen resisting the assault.

The patient has been identified as Arjun Pawar, who had come to the hospital for an endoscopy procedure. After the procedure, Arjun experienced difficulty in breathing and moved to another ward to lie down and recover. During this time, an argument broke out between him and the on-duty doctor, which reportedly led to the assault.

The patient’s family claims that the doctor initially mistreated Arjun and, after a heated exchange, physically attacked him.

Immediately following the incident, a large crowd gathered outside the hospital. The patient’s family and other protestors demanded immediate action against the doctor and called for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Indian media reports further stated that the patient’s family has filed an official complaint with the police, requesting legal action against the doctor involved.

In response to the public backlash, IGMC authorities have formed an internal committee to thoroughly investigate the incident.
