Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan has strongly condemned the the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the raising of the occupying power's flag within its courtyard by illegal Israeli settlers.
In a statement issued by Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, the government described these actions as deeply objectionable and a clear breach of international law, stressing that they undermine the sanctity and protected status of the holy site.
The statement warned that such provocative behaviour could further inflame an already fragile situation in the region.
Pakistan urged that every possible step be taken to safeguard holy places in territories under Israeli control and criticised what it called the continued lack of accountability for illegal settlers acting under protection.
“Pakistan stands firmly with the Palestinian people, supports their right to freely practice their religion, and continues to back the establishment of an independent, viable and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem designated as its capital,” the FO statement said.
