DPM Dar in New York to attend 81st UNGA session

New York (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reached New York on Sunday afternoon to take part in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

At John F. Kennedy International Airport, he was received by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Consul General in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai, and senior officials of the Pakistan Mission and Consulate General.

Dar is set to follow an extensive programme of diplomatic engagements during his visit to the UN.
As part of his schedule, he will participate in a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir, where he will reiterate Pakistan’s longstanding position in support of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

He will also take part in various OIC ministerial-level meetings being held alongside the UN General Assembly. These include the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Annual Coordination Meeting as well as meetings of other OIC Contact Groups.

The deputy premier is scheduled to join several high-level discussions concerning Palestine, including a session of the Group of Eight Arab and Islamic countries and the High-Level Ministerial Meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

The DPM/FM will deliver a statement at a high-level UN Security Council briefing focused on artificial intelligence. He is also scheduled to participate in the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response.

During the visit, the deputy prime minister will chair a meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers.
DPM/FM Dar will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from several countries, in addition to accompanying PM Shehbaz during high-level bilateral meetings and engagements.

The deputy premier, during his engagements, will highlight Pakistan’s ongoing efforts for regional and international peace and stability, and exchange views on important regional and international challenges.
