Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated the Inspire Initiative, a national effort designed to prepare skilled professionals in the field of semiconductors for industrial, research, and academic advancement.
During the ceremony held in Islamabad, the prime minister described the launch as an urgent and essential step for Pakistan, highlighting that the development of expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), information technology, and semiconductors is crucial for national progress.
He remarked that the country’s youth represent its strongest resource and must be equipped with the latest knowledge and technical abilities to meet modern challenges.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed his government’s full backing for the initiative, noting its vast potential for the future.
He pointed out that nations leading in AI and semiconductor technology will define the global landscape in the years ahead.
The prime minister urged that the semiconductor program be implemented swiftly, assuring that financial constraints would not hinder its progress.
He announced that Rs4.5 billion have been earmarked from the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) to fund this venture.
PM Shehbaz also mentioned several other youth-focused projects initiated by the government, including the establishment of the Pakistan Digital Authority and the country’s advancement toward a cashless economy.
Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja termed the day historic, marking the beginning of Pakistan’s first national semiconductor program.
She stated that under the Inspire Initiative, 7,200 young people will be trained, while nine university clusters and modern integrated circuit laboratories will be set up to support the project.
She emphasized that empowering the youth through education, training, and employment opportunities remains the government’s foremost objective.
