Islamabad (Web Desk): Security forces killed the most-wanted terrorist ringleader, along with four other terrorists, in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Spinwam area of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa’s (KP) North Waziristan, the sources said on Thursday.
According to security sources, the slain militant commander, Umar alias Jan Mir alias Tor Saqib, had a Rs3 million reward announced for his capture. He was believed to be one of the main planners behind several assaults on both civilians and security personnel.
Sources further stated that the militant had also constructed hidden bunkers, underground passages, and planted explosive traps in areas surrounding the Bobali Mosque in Spinwam.
The operation comes two days after the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the security forces eliminated 22 khwarij terrorists belonging to Indian sponsored Fitna al Khwarij in an IBO in general area Shewa in North Waziristan district.
As per the military’s media wing, the terrorists were killed during a sanitisation operation launched on May 17 based on credible intelligence about the presence of the terrorists in the area.
