Dera Ismail Khan (Web Desk): The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) thwarted a major act of terrorism in Dera Ismail Khan by arresting a woman suspected of planning a suicide bombing.
The arrest was made during a targeted operation in Sheikh Yousaf Khema Basti after authorities acted on credible intelligence.
Officials said the detained woman belongs to Waziristan. Investigators revealed that she had maintained close ties with a banned terrorist organisation and had reportedly received training under direction of the outfit’s head.
In her recorded statement, the suspect allegedly told investigators that the explosives and the selected target for the suicide attack were to be supplied by another Khariji commander.
During the operation, law enforcement personnel seized a 30-bore pistol with ammunition, several mobile phones, a tablet device, and other items believed to be intended for use in the planned attack.
The forensic examination of the digital devices uncovered communication with a banned outfit and indicated that she had expressed willingness to carry out the suicide mission.
Authorities said further inquiries are ongoing to identify additional collaborators and dismantle the network connected to the foiled plot.
