Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given approval to reorganise and better integrate the Public-Private Partnership Authority along with its existing structure in a bid to accelerate development work through PPP-based initiatives.

He chaired a meeting in Islamabad where matters related to the Public-Private Partnership system were reviewed in detail.

It was agreed during the meeting that the Public-Private Partnership Authority would now operate under the Privatization Division so that its functioning can be brought in line with modern requirements and the pace of ongoing and future development projects can be improved.

The prime minister stressed the need to strengthen the capacity of all concerned ministries and departments so they are able to more effectively design, launch, and execute development schemes under the Public-Private Partnership framework.

He also instructed that projects carried out through PPP arrangements should be formally included in the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) used to evaluate the performance of ministries and government departments.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that the government is working to enhance transparency, efficiency, and overall effectiveness of the Public-Private Partnership system through reforms in the Authority.

The meeting was further informed about a comparative review of PPP models being implemented in different countries across regional and international levels.
