Karachi (Web Desk): Peshawar Zalmi set a target of 148 runs for Karachi Kings in the11th match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi on Monday.
The pitch had a bit of bite, and Karachi’s bowlers made the most of it. Khushdil Shah, turning in a standout spell, ripped through Zalmi’s middle order, while Abbas Afridi provided firepower with the ball, claiming key wickets to dismantle any hopes of a late surge. Between them, the duo scalped six wickets and kept the Zalmi batters in check throughout.
After being asked to bat first, Peshawar struggled to find any rhythm. The early dismissal of Saim Ayub in the third over set the tone for a challenging innings. Tom Kohler-Cadmore never quite got going and was undone trying to up the ante, leaving skipper Babar Azam to shoulder the bulk of the responsibility.
Babar played with typical composure, stroking seven boundaries in a well-crafted 46 off 41 deliveries. He built brief stands with Kohler-Cadmore and later with Mohammad Haris, but the momentum never fully swung Zalmi’s way. Haris showed intent during his 21-ball 28, flashing four crisp boundaries, but his departure triggered a late-innings slide.
Hussain Talat added some resistance, rotating strike and finding gaps for a timely 18, but once he fell to Aamir Jamal’s clever change of pace, the lower order couldn’t hold. Karachi’s bowlers hunted in a pack, tightening lines and denying big hits in the death overs.
With a modest total on the board, the Kings will feel confident heading into the chase. The match is well poised, but the pressure will now shift to Zalmi’s bowlers to defend what looks like a below-par score on this surface.
Both teams are keen to register a victory as they look to climb up the points table and gain momentum in the tournament.

Karachi Kings have had a mixed campaign so far, winning two of their four games.
Their most recent performance, however, was a disappointing one as they could only post 128 for 7 against Islamabad United—a target Islamabad comfortably chased down in just 17.1 overs.
