Islamabad: The Judicial Commission Pakistan (JCP) has approved the appointment of Sindh High Court (SHC) Acting Chief Justice Irfan Saadat Khan as a judge of the Supreme Court (SC).
The first meeting of the JCP was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faiz Isa. The Judicial Commission considered the appointment of SHC's Acting Chief Justice Irfan Saadat Khan.
The appointment of Justice Irfan Saadat Khan to the SC was discussed in the meeting. The suggestions of the procedure for the appointment of High Court judges to the SC were also discussed in the meeting.
Following his appointment as Judge of SC, Justice Aqeel Abbasi will be the Chief Justice of the SHC.
The JCP will send its recommendations to parliamentary committee for its approval. Presently, two vacancies of the judges are lying vacant at the Supreme Court.
